Jim is Chief Investment Officer of Applegate Investment Management, LLC. Jim holds a bachelors degree cum laude and began his financial services career in 1981. He earned his Certified Financial Planner designation in 1990 and, in 1994, was elected President of the Financial Planning Association of Southwest Florida. During his tenure, he organized the Ft. Myers News-Press/FPA Financial Planning Hotline, an annual public service event offering free financial planning advice to the general public. He earned the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation in 2003.
Jim is an active member and has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM), a professional organization of investment advisors who believe in active management to reduce the risk of down markets. NAAIM’s 200 member firms nationwide manage an estimated $14 billion. Jim has also served as a Director of his Rotary Club and is a Vietnam-era veteran of the United States Air Force. He resides in Fort Myers with his wife and two children.
